Organic Food Chemistry at the Super Market(Esters)

Next we found out about different types of esters present in the Supermarket.

Esters: are chemical compounds derived formally from one containing an oxo group, X=O) and a hydrocarbon compound.








  1. Glycerol(C3H8O3)
    It is an ester which in the food industry an important moistening agent for baked goods.They can be found in organic food and packet food.







  2. Sacrose Ester Fatty Acid :
    Cussue
    It is an ester and can be found in Health Care products such as vitamins supplements.





  3. Natural esters.
    Natural esters can be found in food such as fruits like apple,pineapple.






  4. The ingredients for making perfumes come from immense number of sources.The basic ingredients are water, alcohol and fragranced oils. Natural perfume ingredients include resinoids, essential oils and absolute extracts of aromatic plants. For example : Coco Chanel perfume!


  5. Lutein is the active carotenoid in this potent, natural source antioxidant. It is naturally derived from marigold flowers and contains a normal blend of carotenoids including: Zeaxanthin and Cryptoxanthin.

Some correction needed:
Glycerol is alcohol, not ester.
Lutein not esters
Vinegar an acid, not alcohol.
Phosphoric acid, not organic compound.
